Check your home before you sell

Home-For-SaleA pest inspection report may make 10 or more recommendations to purchasers with regard to repair, replacement and removal of conditions condusive to termite attack.

A pest inspector working for a purchaser will be actively detailing any areas that may be condusive to termites entering their client’s ‘soon to be’ new home. You can minimise some of these conditions by simply checking your home before you sell, or have a Pre-sale Pest inspection carried out by a Professional inspector. By doing this you may eliminate any nasty surprises when it comes to selling time.

Here are a few things you can check in your home before you sell.

  • Remove any loose timbers or old rotten wood.
  • Any timber or firewood around the yard should be placed up on shelving or  flooring off the ground and well away from the building.
  • Check the perimeter of the building for signs of water or moisture. Also check for mud trails, a tell tail sign of termites.
  • Make sure Gutters are clear and in a good state of repair. Ensure downpipes allow water flow away from the building.
  • Check for plumbing leaks in all wet areas in the house and around the outside of the home.
  • Keep garden beds away from the external walls and below weep holes, slab edges and physical barriers.
  • Remove stored items away from the building wall. This includes planter boxes and pot plants.
